In Willowbrook, Luna's Bakery only opened when the moon rose. The air always smelled of cinnamon and stardust.
"Is it true, Timmy? Can these pastries really make you dream?" Sophie asked, peering through the glowing window.
"Absolutely! My brother ate a lemon bar and said he flew over the church steeple until sunrise!" Timmy replied.
Sophie walked in. The floor was covered in white sand that crunched like snow. Luna smiled at her.
"Working late tonight, Luna? That oven is glowing like a fallen star," Sophie noted, amazed.
"The moon provides the best heat for dreams, dear. What are you looking for tonight?" Luna asked kindly.
"I miss my grandfather. Do you have anything that could help me see him again?" Sophie whispered.
"Try this strawberry cookie. It's filled with memories and summer mornings," Luna said, handing her a warm treat.
Sophie ate it and dreamed of her grandfather sitting on their old garden bench. He told her he was always watching.
"Luna! It worked! I saw him! How do you put so much magic into one cookie?" Sophie asked the next evening.
"The magic isn't in the flour, Sophie. It's in your heart's belief," Luna explained, cleaning her silver apron.
"So the cookies are just a key?" Sophie wondered, her voice filled with realization.
"Exactly. Only use them if you forget how to notice the magic in everyday life," Luna smiled.
Sophie visited often, learning that a little belief makes even the darkest night much brighter.
